How affiliate links work

Some links on this site point to software vendors and include a tracking identifier. If you follow one and buy a subscription, the vendor pays us a commission. This costs you nothing extra: the price you pay is the same as it would be if you visited the vendor directly.

Where you will see disclosure

Every page containing affiliate links carries a disclosure near the top, before the content, not buried in a footer. You should never have to hunt for this information.

How we manage the conflict

Affiliate commission creates an incentive to recommend expensive products. We constrain that in four ways:

• We publish pages that recommend against a purchase. Several reviews on this site conclude that the tool in question is not worth it for the reader. Those pages earn nothing, and they exist because they are true.
• We recommend cheaper plans where they fit. Where the free tier or a lower plan is genuinely sufficient for a small agency, we say so, even though a higher tier would pay us more.
• Vendors have no editorial input. No vendor sees a review before publication, and none can pay for a favourable conclusion or the removal of a critical one.
• We disclose on the page, not only here. A disclosure that exists only on a separate page is not a disclosure.

What we do not do

• We do not accept payment for a ranking position or a recommendation.
• We do not publish sponsored articles or paid link insertions.
• We do not allow a vendor to review or approve a draft.
• We do not claim to have tested a product we have not used.

Advertising

This site does not currently display third-party display advertising. If that changes, advertising will be clearly labelled and will not appear on pages where it would be confused with our editorial judgement. Advertising never influences editorial content.
